715. Range Module
Problem Description
A Range Module is asked to manage and track ranges of numbers within its data structure, specifically defined as half-open intervals [left, right)
. A half-open interval includes the left boundary and excludes the right boundary, which could represent all real numbers x
where left <= x < right
. The Range Module will support adding new ranges, querying if a given range is fully tracked, and removing existing ranges.
We have to implement a RangeModule
class with the following functions:
RangeModule()
- a constructor method to initialize the range tracking data structure.addRange(int left, int right)
- this method should add a half-open interval[left, right)
, tracking all the real numbers within that interval. If the new interval overlaps with any currently tracked numbers, only those not already tracked should be added.queryRange(int left, int right)

The best way to manage these ranges effectively, given that the intervals could be large, is to use an interval tree or segment tree data structure.
Intuition

A segment tree is a tree-like data structure that stores aggregates for a range of array indices. In this context, we're interested in tracking if a range is fully added, not added, or partially added. To accommodate these conditions and to facilitate lazy propagation of updates (deferred tree updates until needed to save time), we extend the segment tree with flags that indicate the addition or removal of ranges.

The Segment Tree used in the code is slightly specialized for this problem. Instead of maintaining a count or sum over an interval, each node in the Segment Tree stores whether the interval is fully included in the tracking (node.v
